Welcome To Casi's Classroom!

The best part of Pioneer is the kids
and the eagerness in which they attack projects.

Topic (Indepth Study)

Our science and social studies curricula accompany the current topic or theme.  Regular science labs are designed in and around topic-related content to encourage a connectedness between what is known and what is to be learned.  In this approach, we are able to not only teach the what, but explore the why.  Pioneer goes beyond breadth of learning to depth of understanding.

Literacy

Reading, writing, listening, and communicating are codependent elements under the literacy umbrella.  A literate classroom engages children in every component everyday.  They are found integrated in nearly everything we do.  Several activities within the literacy program are recurring and structured as follows:

Mathematics

Our society, school, and homes use letters and numbers to communicate information, ideas, and questions.  Though mathematics is referenced as a separate content area, math is essentially another form of communication.

Calendar provides daily reinforcement of various skills and concepts such as counting, pattern, sequence, time, measurement, money, geometry, estimation, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.  Individualized math instruction occurs daily in small groups.  Encouraged to explore, problem-solve, and ask questions, the children progress at a comfortable pace.  The students exemplify open-ended education.  Those children conceptually ready and interested may be working a long division algorithm, while others are dividing cookies among friends.
